On Friday March 23, 2012, Koinonia Academy held its annual 7th grade poetry recital. The students worked very hard in presenting a wonderful recitation of a variety of poems. The selection of poetry ranged from the silly to the sublime. The audience heard such favorites as “ The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, and “O Captain! My Captain!” by Walt Whitman. The audience was also treated to silly poems such as “ The Little Blue Engine” by Shel Silverstein and “ The Silliest Teacher” by Darren Sardelli. A somber and challenging piece was “ Pickett’s Charge ” by Stephen Vincent Benet. “The War Within” was written and recited by Matthew Ryan, a 7th grade student.
After the individual recitations, the 7th grade class performed “ The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson as a choral piece. The class did a wonderful job reciting this classic poem.
The other poems recited were:
“New Friends and Old Friends”
“The Captain’s Daughter”
“A Friend or Two”
“Joy in Joy”
“You Mustn’t Quit”
Friday afternoon was an enjoyable experience for all who attended. Congratulations to the 7th Grade Class, who did a wonderful job! A big thank you to
Mrs. Patricia Kinney who made this event possible.
