Good News from Koinonia Academy
Some recent and future good happenings at Koinonia Academy:
The Koinonia Academy Concert Choir will be on the annual evangelistic tour from April 16 to April 23. This year the choir will be away from school, but will return to our local area for concerts. We want to share the blessings of the tour with local audiences and help our enrollment and fundraising efforts in the local area. The complete itinerary is in today’s KPAC envelope and is also on the KA website.
This year’s 5K Run will be held on Saturday, April 28, in the Great Swamp, Long Hill Township – save the date and invite a runner. We’re challenging all the students to see how many participants they can recruit; we’re also challenging them to finish well ahead of the headmaster (those who do sign his running shirt for display in the link).
As part of our spring enrollment effort, we will have an open house on Tuesday, May 1. The open house will be from 9-11:30 AM and will give prospective families a chance to visit the school, see classes in action and hear a brief mini-concert by the Koinonia Academy Concert Choir. Please let folks in your area know about this event. (We always welcome interested families and are happy to have visitors at any time – just call and come.)
Our Lenten prayer at school has been going very well. To celebrate the season with our prayer, we have Prayer Room with singing and praise on Mondays, the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary on Tuesdays, Stations of the Cross on Wednesdays, singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Thursdays and Mass on Fridays.
Some members of our junior and senior classes have proposed that we use new music for the Divine Mercy Chaplet. They are working to prepare the version used on EWTN and hope to have it ready for us to learn before Easter.
Members of the Class of 2012 have begun our financial literacy course for the fourth quarter. The course, instituted last year with the Class of 2011, is taught by Mrs. Carol Molnar, CPA. Mr. Lou Cirrotti, also a CPA and former Treasurer of Koinonia, will present several guest lectures during the course. Financial literacy is an important subject for our soon to be graduated seniors; we are very grateful to Mrs. Molnar and Mr. Cirrotti for making their expertise available to our students.
Mrs. Betsy Fierro and our teachers are helping students prepare artwork for our annual Art Show. The student artworks will be displayed on Grandparents’ Day, May 20.
Keep on your calendar: Choir Tour Concert – Wed., April 25, 2012, John Paul II Auditorium, 7:30 PM May Crowning and Grandparents’ Day – May 20 – Bruce Weyand Gym. Details TBA
